SOS Children’s Villages Greece is a leading actor in child protection nationally, with critical scientific know-how and field expertise in Foster Care and in partnership with public entities in the critical area of De-Institutionalization.
We are working hard for systemic change in child protection in Greece, supporting the State and public childcare and other institutions in a national Foster Care program – a Public /Private Partnership, which was created with private funding in 2017. To this day, over 190 children1 have been placed in families with the support of SOS Children’s Villages Greece.
In addition, we are cooperating and supporting the State and public bodies with an expanded and nationwide Foster Care Program (2018)
The Program has three axes:
• supporting child care in institutions
• the training of employees in these institutions
• the promotion of Fostering.
SOS Children’s Villages Greece also has critical expertise in Family Strengthening programs (Family and Child Support Centers) as well as After Care Supported living programs (Youth Centers).
SOS Children’s Villages International works in close partnership with bodies, governments and institutions, both at an international, European and national level, as well as in collaborative efforts such as the Opening Doors for Europe campaign. With vast experience in 136 countries (including all 24 EU countries) and over 70 years of experience in protection, prevention, foster care and supported living programs, SOS Children’s Villages is a leading child protection actor internationally, with particular emphasis in the rights of children outside parental care.
